(Fishkill) - The Hudson Valley Renegades, Class A Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil rays, announced earlier this week, that Dutchess Stadium will play host to the third annual New York Penn League All Star Game on August 14, 2007. The games will showcase the best prospects from each of the league’s National League affiliates against their American League counterparts.
In 2005, the inaugural NYPL All Star Game was held in Brooklyn, NY at KeySpan Park as the National League affiliates stars held off their American League rivals, 5-4. Last season the AL answered back with a 4-1 victory at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD. Full details of the upcoming All-Star break in the Hudson Valley will be released as the season approaches.
“The Renegades are thrilled to hose the third annual All-Star Game,” Jeff Goldklang, president of Renegades. “The fans will be able to experience the premiere talent associated with our league and our community will reap the benefits that comes from hosting the many visitors that will travel to our region.”
Beginning on April 23, 2007 at 9 a.m., individual tickets to the All-Star Game can be purchased online through the Renegades’ official website, www.hvrenegades.com, or via the box-office, 845-838-0094. All-Star Game tickets are also included in season ticket plans that are on sale now.
“We have had quite a fruitful off season,” Dave Burke, general manager of the Renegades. “Not only were we able to announce our lease extension to remain at Dutchess Stadium, but to be awarded the All-Star Game for the first time in this community is awesome.”
Renegades Announce 2007 Coaching Staff
Quatraro Return to Manager
(Fishkill) - The Hudson Valley Renegades announced the coaching staff for the 2007 season.
Matt Quatraro will return for his second season as manager of the Hudson Valley Renegades. Quatraro was originally an eighth round pick by the Rays in the 1996 June Draft and is the first Rays minor league player to join the organization's coaching staff.

In 2004, Montalvo's pitching staff at Hudson Valley worked to an ERA of 3.01, the second-lowest mark in the minor leagues behind the GCL-Yankees (2.89).
Ozzie Timmons, 26, makes his minor league coaching debut. The Tampa native played 14 professional seasons with seven different organizations including the 2000 campaign with the Devil Rays organization where he belted 30 home runs for Durham and appeared in 12 games with the Rays batting .341 with four home runs during a September call-up.
Marist Baseball Locks Up Eight Signees
Healy inks new class
(Poughkeepsie) - Marist head coach Dennis Healy announced the signing of eight student-athletes for the class of 2011, the school announced Tuesday.
“Coaches Chris Tracz and Tag Montague have done a great job of assembling this recruiting class,“ said Healy. “They have been relentless in his pursuit of quality student-athletes who fit in our program.”
Those eight individuals include five pitchers, Sean McKeown, Chad Gallagher, Brennan Wojdyla, Brendan Chapin and Kyle Putnam. The Red Foxes also signed three position players, Ricky Pacione, Matthew Accardi and Mike Gallic.
“We are extremely pleased that these eight individuals decided to come to Marist,” Healy said. “All of these players will have a great impact on our program for the next four years. We want to thank them for believing in us as much as we believe in them.”
Matthew Accardi (Delaware Valley HS, Pennsylvania)
Accardi is a 6’1”, 195 pound right handed hitting catcher from Delaware Valley High School in Milford, Pennsylvania. He hit .425 last spring, leading his team to the Pennsylvania state championship title. He was First Team All-State, All- League, All- Region. “Matt is a physical catcher who will hit in the middle of our order for the next four years,” said Healy. “Once Matt gets a bunch of experience, he has a chance to be a major impact player in our conference.”
Brendan Chapin (Catholic Memorial HS, Massachusetts)
Chapin is a 6’0”, 200 pound right-handed pitcher from Catholic Memorial High School. In his current high school career he is 12-4 and has been All-Conference both sophomore and junior years. His junior year he received All- State honors. During the past summer he pitched for the highly touted Ohio Warhawks team. “Brendan is a great pick up for us,” Healy said. “He pitches in the upper 80s with a plus breaking ball. Most importantly he knows how to pitch, pitches to win and never stops competing.”
Chad Gallagher (St. John’s HS, Massachusetts)
Gallagher is a 6’3”, 175 pound left handed pitcher from St. John’s Shrewsbury High School. He has a current high school record of 14-3, been an All- Conference Performer two years in a row and is the 2-time Northboro Pitcher of the Year. “Chad is a tall, lanky left-handed pitcher who has yet to grow into his body,” said Healy. “Once he is fully matured, we expect him to be an upper 80s guy with a great feel for pitching. He is a great sign for our pitching beliefs and we look forward to his arrival on campus.”
Mike Gallic (Tolland High HS, Connecticut)
Gallic is a 6’2”, 190 pound right-handed hitting outfielder who hails from Tolland High School in Connecticut. A three-sport star, Mike hit .444 with 17 doubles last season and was named All-Conference and All-State for his efforts. He is also an All-Conference performer in basketball and football. “Mike is one of the best athletes I have signed since I started recruiting 10 years ago,” Healy said. “He is a plus runner, thrower and hitter. Once Mike starts putting all his efforts into baseball, he is going to be a super college player.”
Sean McKeown (Immaculata HS, New Jersey)
McKeown is a 6’1”, 180 pound left-handed pitcher from Immaculata High School in New Jersey. Sean has enjoyed a stellar high school career thus far. Last season, he was first team All-Somerset County and Third Team All- State. He pitched a two-hit shutout (fourth of his junior season) in the County Championship game. He finished his junior year with an 8-0 record. “Sean has done nothing but win his whole high school career and we expect him to do the same once he gets to college,” said Healy. “He has the ability to make hitters become real uncomfortable. His mound presence and feel for pitching are things you cannot coach. We are extremely excited about him pitching for us for the next four years.”
Ricky Pacione (Newburgh Free Academy, New York)
Pacione is a 5’9”, 165 pound switch hitting infielder from Newburgh Free Academy in New York. Ricky can play multiple positions in college. He will see time in the infield as well as the outfield. He led his high school and legion team in all offensive categories last year and is also a member of the National Honor Society. “Ricky will be a major force in our conference for the next four years,” Healy said. “He is a very mature young man with a great feel for what it takes to win in baseball. The more I watched him play, the more I realized that not only is he going to be a very good college player, he is going to be a super leader on the field as well. We are thrilled he will be with us next year.”
Kyle Putnam (Newburgh Free Academy, New York)
Putnam is a 6’1”, 180 pound right-handed pitcher who also comes from Newburgh Free Academy in New York. He has been a mainstay at the top of his high school pitching rotation since his sophomore year. He is 23-5 in the last two years of high school and summer ball. He was also named All-Conference in both seasons. “Kyle is a perfect fit for us, a right handed pitcher, who can really spin a breaking ball and also pitches with plus velocity,” said Healy. “With some maturity and growth, Kyle will be a tremendous pitcher here at Marist.”
Brennan Wojdyla (Amsterdam HS, New York)
Wojdyla is a 6’3”, 190 pound left-handed pitcher/first baseman from Amsterdam High School in Upstate New York. Wojdyla has been 9-1 with an ERA under 1 for the year. Offensively, he hit over 300 with serious power potential. He plays during the summer for the highly-touted South Troy Dodgers. “Brennan is a very good athlete,” Healy said. “He will have an impact on our program both offensively and on the mound. As a pitcher, he has a great feel for all three pitches, locates and is just starting to mature physically. His future is on the mound but offensively, he shows the ability to be a very good college hitter. He shows power and the ability to handle all parts of the field. His current high school coach, Brian Spagnola, has done a great job preparing Brennan for the jump to Division I baseball.” Return to Top of Page
